The fund classes will meet in SB 508 in the Spring term of 2017.
The Category 5 Student Managed Investment Fund (Cat 5 SMIF) is both an investment portfolio and a track of classes at the University of Miami. With over $500,000 in assets under management, the Fund provides students with real-world investment management and decision making experience.
The Fund is open to exceptionally-strong full-time undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Business Administration who are interested in learning about the investment management industry. More information on pre-requisites can be found here.
Once selected to join the Fund, students will be placed into one of six groups:
- Energy & Utilities
- Industrials & Materials
- Real Estate & Financials
- Tech, Media & Telecom
At the beginning of each semester, training sessions will be held in investment analysis and financial modeling. Industry specific training will continue throughout the semester, led by each team’s Portfolio Manager and Associate Managers.
Throughout the semester, students are expected to be involved in industry research and investment proposals on an ongoing basis.
Last year’s Quinnipiac G.A.M.E. Conference was held on March 31 – April 2, 2016. We flew up on a Wednesday in the early evening. and returned Saturday the 2nd. There is more information on their web page.
